Public transportation and pedestrian access
The site benefits from good public transport connections, with regular bus services operating along Pepper Lane from Wrightington into Wigan via Standish, whilst the nearest train stations are located in Appley Bridge and Gathurst approximately 2 miles away, Wigan’s Wallgate and North Western stations are less than 4 miles away. This allows residents direct access to major towns and cities, such as Southport, Liverpool, Manchester and Preston.
The site is a short walk to the heart of Standish Town Centre, providing local residents access to the range of shops and services on offer, whilst Pepper Lane itself offers future residents access to local amenities a little closer to home, including a small convenience store, hairdressers and takeaway offers.
A Travel Plan will also be submitted with the planning application that will encourage new residents of the development to use public transport or walk or cycle, wherever possible. Given the location of the site, new residents at the Pepper Lane site will benefit from such an accessible and well-located residential development to take advantage of the shops, services and local amenities on their doorstep.
